Vics’ friendly cancelled at short notice

DUE TO Emirates Scottish Junior Cup replays, Arbroath Vics were without a fixture on Saturday.

Vics had arranged a friendly away to amateur side Castle AFC at Castle Huntly, but it was cancelled late on Saturday morning when the Midlands Amateur Association handed the team from Longforgan a re-scheduled fixture, leaving Vics with no time to fix up an alternative.

Of the league matches that took place in the McBookie.com North Division on Saturday, Dundee North End beat leaders East Craigie 2-1 to take over at the top, while Downfield moved into second place with a 1-0 win away to Montrose Roselea. Kirrie Thistle kept in contention at the top with a 2-0 win against bottom side, Coupar Angus, while Blairgowrie moved above Vics with a 3-0 victory at home to Brechin Vics.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Vics return to action with a league fixture at home to Lochee Harp. Kick-off is at 1.45 p.m.
