Portcullis (1) lose their unbeaten record

Kelbie Metals Singles and Doubles

Entries are now being taken for this year’s premium Arbroath and District Pool League events, the Kelbie Metals Singles and Doubles. The entry fee remains at £3 per player for the singles and £4 per pair in the doubles. Entry forms have been distributed to all captains, but are also available for download from the Arbroath Pool website. The deadline for entries for both competitions is Tuesday, November 27, at 7 p.m. All entries must be handed into the Ram’s Heid on the appropriate forms for the attention of the match secretary or treasurer or handed to them in person.

Individual Membership

A total of 42 players entered last season’s Individual Membership tour and it was encouraging to have such a positive response from those players who entered. Therefore, the ADPL wishes to continue promoting this more widely among all interested pool players. This is a great opportunity for players to improve their skills and compete at the highest levels in Scotland. To that end, entries are being invited for any interested player to join next season’s tour.

The IM Tour has been reviewed for the 2013 season and the number of events has increased from five to seven, each event carrying ranking points. As a result the fee has increased to £30 (previously £25). The Scottish Singles is also included in the ranking scoring system (this costs a further £5 to enter and will be collected separately). Each player receives a ranking score based upon on their best six events out of the eight events mentioned above.

There are local qualifiers held for each event and these are drawn by the SPA and sent to each IM representative. After this, the local players are permitted to arrange their own matches between themselves at a mutually agreed time and venue. The only stipulation is the match must be played before a pre-determined deadline.

The deadline for submission of names, £30 fees and contact e-mail information is Saturday, December 1. Any interested players should contact Michael Bastow in the first instance for more information or visit the SPA website at www.scottishpool.com.
