More curling success
BEN BREMNER, whose mother club is Letham Grange and also plays for Forfar Young Curlers, added to his recent success by winning the Royal Caledonian Curling Club’s Under-17 Grand Slam Trophy.
This followed his success in the winning the Hay Trophy in the competition for schools and Ben played a key role playing second in a team skipped by James Carswell.
The Grand Slam started last April and is played in five ice rinks throughout Scotland finishing in Forfar at the end of December. Ben’s team became under-17 Scottish champions going through all their games undefeated - a tremendous achievement!
Duncan Menzies, whose mother club is Letham Grange and who also plays for Forfar Young Curlers, has been selected to skip Team GB in the World Youth Olympics starting on Saturday, January 14, in Innsbruck, Austria.
He is joined by three very competent curlers, and although the team has played only one competition together, they have had the opportunity to practice together and get to know each other’s game under the expert guidance of head coach Brad Askew.
Duncan is looking forward taking part in such a large and important tournament where 70 nations from five continents will be represented by over 1,000 athletes.
Thomas Muirhead’s sister, champion curler Eve, has been appointed as an ‘Athlete Role Model’ for the games.
