ARBROATH Boxing Club’s three champions, along with their trophies and medal, were photographed in rather more luxurious surroundings than the training gym.

Danny Lafferty loaned his plush new salon for the event and using the unusual prop, for boxers, of a piano they were caught reflecting on their successes.

John Cooper won the North District light-heavyweight title last month in Inverurie, where he beat opposition from Dundee and Inverness.

Deon Johnson won the Scottish Schoolboys’ 63kg class at the Ravenscraig Sports’ Complex in an exciting contest against an opponent from Alloa.

The third member of this trio of champions, Terry Ballantine, became North District light-welterweight champion in stunning style with two stoppage victories over Aberdonians, at the same Inverurie show as John Cooper.

Deon and Terry are only in their second season of competition and have done extremely well. They can look to the future with confidence, as can the more experienced John Cooper who always gives of his best.

These three are just the tip of the exciting prospects that the Boxing Club is producing and we can expect to see more champion pictures in the future.
