It’s that time of year when thoughts drift to summer holidays and lying on a beach somewhere...and a good book to read.

Might I recommend an autobiography by one of the game’s classiest players - Dennis Bergkamp: ‘Stillness and Speed’.

From his early days at Ajax learning from the great Johan Cruyff, then his turbulent time in Italy with Inter Milan on to his glory-filled days at Arsenal, this is a must-read for all football fans.

In a Q&A format, the ‘Iceman’ talks openly about the challenges he faced at Inter and explains where his fear of flying all began, as well as lifting the lid on his latter spell at the Gunners when he and manager Arsene Wenger didn’t exactly see eye to eye all the time.

It is a fantastic read and a step above the usual footballers’ biographies, which can be much of a muchness at times.

l My football predictions recently have been fairly spot on (which is unusual) so I’ve been asked who I think will win the World Cup.

I can’t see past Brazil after their fine showing last year on home soil when winning the Confederations Cup.

Just behind them is Argentina but much will depend on the form of Lionel Messi, who has not really produced the same outstanding displays for his country as he has done for Barcelona.

My dark horses are Chile with Arturo Vidal of Juventus and Barca’s Alexis Sanchez.
