TEN MEMBERS attended the Forfar and District Hillwalking Club’s day meet on Sunday for a through walk along the Fungle road from Aboyne to Tarfside in Glen Esk.
The walkers started off from Birsemore and walked south through the forest in snow showers before the weather cleared, with long spells of sunshine. Conditions were very slippery underfoot and it took almost seven hours to complete the 20 km walk.
Eight members decided on shorter walks in Glen Esk, six going to the Rocks of Solitude and two walking up Glen Mark to Queens well.
Eight other members joined the walkers at the Sauchieburn hotel in Luthermuir for a delicious high tea.
The club’s next Monday meeting will be held in the Queen Street Tavern in Forfar on Monday, January 31, at 7.30 p.m. The meeting will be followed by the annual photographic competition. Members are asked to submit entries to Colin by January 23.
The next day meet will be on February 6 to the Ben Lui area. Contact Ray or Carolyn to confirm attendance.
Booking forms for the March, May and June weekends are available to download from the website at www.fdhwc.org.uk.
