Young Arbroath United fans were put through their paces by the first team on Saturday morning at Gayfield Park.

Despite the miserable weather over 30 children turned up for a training session at Low Common followed by a kick-about with manager Allan Moore and the first-team squad at Gayfield.

Arbroath FC board member Malcolm Fairweather said: “It went very, very well. We were delighted with the turnout especially considering the terrible weather.

“I wouldn’t have blamed the kids for preferring to stay at home in their beds but those who turned up thoroughly enjoyed it. It was one of the best open days we’ve had, with lots of the youngsters sporting Arbroath strips.”

Credit was given to Allan Moore for getting involved and providing a good, fun coaching session.

Mr Fairweather would also like to mention a particular thank you to McDonalds for supplying the children with food, free of charge.
