A last minute penalty saw Arbroath take all three points against Airdrie.
The Lichties had the opportunity to go ahead in the early stages when Alan Cook was fouled in the box.
The referee pointed to the spot but Cook blasted his spot kick off the post.
The home side did go ahead on 20 minutes when a great run down the left saw Bobby Linn blast the ball past the ‘keeper.
After the break Airdrie were gunning for an equaliser and found it on the hour mark when substitue William McLaren put his side back level.
But on 77 minutes Arbroath were back in front when David Banjo slotted home from close range.
However, the lead was short-lived as Lewis Coult grabbed one back for the visitors.
But in the closing stages, Chris O’Neill pulled down Linn in the area.
O’Neill was given his marching orders and Lee Erwin grabbed his sixth goal in six games when he converted from the spot.
