A spectacular chip by Alan Cook had the Lichties in front, but the ‘Gers hit back through Bilel Mohsni, Andy Little and Lee McCulloch to keep their unbeaten run going.

Paul Sheerin’s men can be proud of their display, though, and the large band of travelling supporters were justifiably proud of their efforts.

Rangers have hit 23 goals already in this campaign and the strike by Arbroath is only the second they have conceded.

Arbroath got the match under way and immediately launched the ball forward to no avail.

A minute in Bobby Linn dispossed Lewis Macleod and made space for a shot from 20 yards which was well over the top.

On 20 minutes Linn played ball wide to Colin Hamilton who jinked his way into the box and sent a low cross in for Erwin who was only inches away from slotting home.

With 25 minutes on the clock, a snap shot from Jon Daly, but wide of the mark.

Soon after there were appeals for a penalty when Hamilton appeared to pull down Jon Daly, but the referee was not interested.

Half-time: Rangers 0, Arbroath 0.

However, after the interval Arbroath came out and grabbed the lead on 47 minutes.

Great tenacity by Ross Chisholm saw him dispossess Faure and played ball into Lee Erwin.

He held it up for Alan COOK who chipped Bell from 10 yards.

Rangers levelled on 57 minutes when Nicky Law fired in a shot from 20 yards which was deflected into path of MOHSNI who finished well.

The home side did grab the lead in 65 minutes when skipper Lee McCULLOCH got his head to a Peralta corner and his effort was too strong for Morrison to keep out.

On 75 minutes, a Peralta free kick came off the wall, but McCULLOCH seized on the loose ball and smashed a 25-yard shot high into the net.

Soon after there was a great chance for Lee Sibanda when Chisholm sprung the offside trap and flighted ball to the back post. But the substitute blasted it high over the top.

Rangers made it four on 88 minutes when Little latched on to a through ball and smashed a shot past Morrison.

And McCulloch completed his hat trick in 90 minutes heading powerfully past the Lichties’ ‘keeper from close range.
