Vics return to action tomorrow

AFTER last week’s free date, Arbroath Vics get back into action when they make the short journey along the coast to meet Carnoustie Panmure in the preliminary round of the G.A. Engineering Cup on Saturday.

The sides have already met this season when Carnoustie edged Vics out in the semi-final of the DJ Laing League Cup with a goal deep into stoppage time, and it is anticipated that another close encounter might be in prospect.

Kick-off is at 2.30 p.m. and Vics players should meet at Ogilvy Park at 12.45 p.m.

On the coaching side, Derek Lawson has left the club to take over as manager at Forfar Albion, following the departure of Sean Kelly from the Guthrie Park side.

Derek only came to Vics at the start of the season, following a short stint at ASC, although he has held a managerial post before at Brechin Vics. Derek goes with the club’s best wishes and he is sure to be an asset to the Forfar club, where he played for a couple of seasons.
