For the second time this season, Arbroath Vics were due to meet Coupar Angus away in the league, but again the match was postponed, just like the previous attempt in January.
Torrential rain throughout the week meant there was little chance the game would go ahead, but Vics had to wait until an official inspection at 10 a.m. by referee Gavin Harris ruled Foxhall Park to be unplayable due to it being waterlogged.
Faced with another idle Saturday, Vics hastily arranged a friendly at Ogilvy Park against Forfar Albion, whose match also fell victim to the weather.
On a cold, wet and windy afternoon, Vics came out on top 2-1. There were no goals until the 70 minute mark when CHRIS SIMPSON put Vics ahead, but that was quickly cancelled out when STRUAN DOHERTY levelled for Albion a couple of minutes later. Vics grabbed what proved to be the winner when CRAIG WATSON fired home in the 86th minute.
Despite the conditions, the match proved to be a worthwhile exercise, giving both teams some game time in the stop-start fixture list, which has been badly hit by the weather since the turn of the year.
Only four matches went ahead in the McBookie.com North Division. There were shocks for leaders Dundee North End who lost 3-2 away to Thornton Hibs and second placed, Luncarty who went down 3-0 at Scone Thistle.
Having not played a competitive match for a fortnight, Vics will be hoping for better luck tomorrow (Saturday) when they are at home to Brechin Vics in the league. Kick-off is at 2 p.m.
