Vics in fine scoring form

ARBROATH Vics continued their pre-season friendlies with a home match against Letham Amateurs on Saturday, winning by eight goals to one.

DANNY McKENZIE gave Vics an early lead before DAVID McLEISH doubled their advantage in the 17th minute. Soon after DANNY McKENZIE grabbed his second of the afternoon from the penalty spot to put Vics 3-0 ahead at half-time.

In the second period, NICKY SMITH helped himself to a quick-fire hat-trick before MARK FOTHERINGHAM got his name on the scoresheet. SMITH then bagged his fourth goal of the afternoon to put Vics 8-0 ahead, but before the close, IAN GOW grabbed a consolation for the Letham side to complete the scoring.

On Tuesday evening, Vics continued their pre-season preparations with a match against Arbroath Under-19s.

Vics again came out on top winning 3-1. RYAN LOW got the only goal of the first half, scoring in the 30th minute. TERRY GRAY extended Vics lead in the 60th minute, and it stayed that way until 10 minutes from the end when LIAM NEIL pulled a goal back for the Gayfield side. Vics, however, had the final say when NEIL MOFFAT grabbed their third in the 83rd minute.

Vics are again at home tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Invergowrie Amateurs in the fifth match of their pre-season schedule. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
