Vics frozen out

AN OVERNIGHT frost hit Tayside Juniors hard with many matches in the region, including all fixtures in the North Division, being postponed.

Arbroath Vics were due to travel to Dundee to meet East Craigie and despite agreeing to leave an inspection until as late as possible to see if the frost would lift, match referee Scott McBurney declared the ground unplayable just under an hour before Vics were due to set off.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Vics will be hoping for better luck when they head to Forfar to meet Forfar Albion in a league fixture. Kick-off is at 1.45 p.m. and players should meet at Ogilvy Park at 12 noon.

One game survives

TWO OF Arbroath High School FPs’ fixtures were cancelled on Saturday due to frozen parks.

But the ‘B’ team game was declared on, and they had a narrow 3-2 win over Harris FP ‘A’ in Dundee, with a Radunski double and a superb Mowatt strike sealing the points.

Fixtures for tomorrow (Saturday):

Midlands Division One - Dundee College v AHSFP, Gardyne Road, Dundee, 1.30 p.m. kick-off. Alliance Division Two - AHSFP ‘ A’ v FC Claypots ‘A’, Arbroath High School, 1.30 p.m.; AHSFP ‘B’ v ACSC ‘A’, Arbroath High School, 1.30 p.m.

All players meet at the Saltire Leisure Centre at 12 noon.

Fixture re-arranged

ARBROATH FC’s Boxing Day game that was abandoned after 20 minutes due to high winds has been given a new date.

The fixture against Stirling Albion will now be played at Gayfield on Wednesday, February 1, with a 7.45 p.m. kick-off.

Despite gusty conditions on December 26, the game got the go ahead but after 20 minutes the referee took the decision to call off the match as the weather worsened.

But now both cubs have agreed on a new date for the fixture to which there will be free admission.

A date for the postponed Angus derby against Forfar Athletic, which was due to be played on December 17, is yet to be arranged.
