FOR THE third consecutive week, Arbroath Vics were left kicking their heels when their league fixture away to Kirrie Thistle was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Indeed with the match being postponed as early as Friday at 9 a.m., Vics arranged to play Dundee Violet on the artificial surface at Links Park, Montrose. However, that to fell by the wayside when the Gable Endies utilised their own pitch for a training session when their league fixture away to East Stirling was also postponed.
Only one match in the East Region beat the weather when Forfar West End switched their Emirates Scottish Junior Cup replay to the artificial surface at Station Park. Unfortunately for the Forfar side, they went down 4-1.
Vics are scheduled to play East Craigie in the first round of the G.A. Engineering Cup tomorrow (Saturday) in Dundee, but it will need a dramatic lift in the temperature to have the surface playable. Should the match go ahead, kick-off is at 1.45 p.m. Players should meet at Ogilvy Park at 11.45 a.m.
Winners this week were: £10 – No. 88, Tracy Cooper; £5 – No. 29, Cameron Walker.
THE FAMILY of a young Arbroath supporter has thanked the club for giving him a special day on Saturday.
Harris Shepherd (6) was the mascot for Saturday’s league fixture against Stenhousemuir at Gayfield.
The Hayshead Primary pupil, who is a season ticket holder, was delighted to meet all the players and club officials before the game and to be given his own introduction by the matchday announcer.
In it, other supporters learned that Harris’ favourite players were Lee Sibanda and Steven Doris, his favourite TV programme was Match of the Day and that his favourite food is steak pie!
