This run of very chilly weather seems to have done the fishing the world of good as all the ponds have been fishing really well with a few anglers having some exceptional sessions.

The water has cleared really well and all the pond have great visibility at the moment which has clearly helped things.

The Boathouse pool is back to being gin clear and the fish seem to be holding at the top end of the pond and around the island.

As always lures seem to be the favoured method with damsels and blobs doing well. As the cooler weather has set in the bung has been doing well also.

Mr Simpson did well returning around a dozen fish with the largest around 7lbs. Mr Watson had eight fish on rubber worms with the best around 6lbs. Logan Cumming had his biggest ever trout with a blue weighing 6lbs 10oz on a damsel as well as putting back another five.

The Burnside is still producing some big bags of fish as well as throwing up a few lumps. The fish have been really well spread with a different spot each day seeming to hold most of the fish. Most of the fish seem to be holding a lot deeper in the water and this has showed with the tactics being used, most people have had to go onto a sinking line to get down to them or the bung set at around eight to 10 feet.

Mr Jones had a good couple of days landing 19 fish with the largest estimated to be around 10lbs most of which were taken on a bloodworm under the bung. Mr Birse is also on a good run landing 22 fish in three short sessions with fish estimated at 6lbs, 7lbs and 11lbs all on a sparkly damsel.

The Bankside has really kicked off and the fish have moved right up into the bay and the anglers took advantage and had a lot of fish over the weekend.

Mr Soave had nine fish for 25lbs, including a blue at 6lbs 15oz on damsels and yellow dancers.

Mr Crooks had 10 fish on a hummie, Mr Phillips had 10 fish on cormorants and fabs, Mr Gibson took 12 fish on cormorants and Mr Birse had seven fish including a fish estimated at around 10/11lb on a sparkly damsel.

The Woodside hasn’t been overly busy but the fishing has been really good with every angler in the last week taking their limit. Most of the fish have been on power bait but spinners and worms ect are taking fish as well. Mr Stevens had five fish for 9lbs and Mr Clark had four for 7lbs.

There are still a handful of spaces for the end of year competition on December 27 on the Boathouse and Burnside. Anyone wishing to fish or looking for more information please call the shop on 01382 350777/350213.
