AN ONLINE bookmaker has made Arbroath FC third favourites in next season’s title challenge for Division Two.
McBookie.com have the Lichties at 5/1 just behind favourites Queen of the South, who are then followed by Ayr United.
The bookmaker believes that with Steven Doris signing on for another season, it has given the Gayfield men a boost.
But they added that losing Josh Falkingham and Gavin Swankie may also hinder their chances.
McBookie.com spokesman Paul Petrie said: “Signing Doris was a massive boost for Arbroath as 20 plus goal a season strikers are worth their weight in gold, and had Sheerin managed to retain Falkingham and Swankie, we would have been even shorter than our current odds.
“The job now is to make sure they find decent replacements, if they can do that, they are in with a chance of challenging for the title.”
McBookie.com Second Division odds are: Queen of the South 3/1; Ayr United 4/1: Arbroath 5/1; Alloa Athletic 11/2; Stenhousemuir 7/1; Brechin City 9/1; East Fife 10/1; Airdrie United 12/1; Forfar Athletic 12/1 and Albion Rovers 33/1.
