New Lichties striker Lewis Coult hopes he can provide the firepower to send Arbroath into League Two.

The ex-Stirling Albion and Cowdenbeath target man joins Martin Grehan up front as Todd Lumsden looks to replace top scorer Simon Murray.

I think we can go straight up. We’ve definitely got the players to do that.

Coult said he had no deliberating to do when Lumsden showed an interest in acquiring his services.

Lewis said: “I’m delighted to sign for a side like Arbroath. They were very close to getting out of the league last season. When Todd contacted me my mind was quickly made up that I wanted to go.

“Hopefully if I stay injury free I can score some goals and get them back into League One. I’m 27 and I’ve had a few injuries but I’m fighting fit and raring to go. I’m looking forward to pre-season to get going.

“I think we can go straight up. Todd and the team are good enough to go up and we’ve definitely got the players to do that. Any less than that wouldn’t reflect our ability.”

The 27-year-old added that the creative spark in the Lichties squad is something he’s very excited about.

He continued: “I’m relishing playing with the likes of Bobby Linn. He’s a quality player and myself and Martin Grehan are two big target men, Bobby and the others have the ability to put the ball right on our heads and into feet to help us score some goals.

“Not only that but I think there’s good quality throughout the squad.”
