Keeping players in a job

THE SCOTTISH Football League (SFL) and the players’ union, PFA Scotland, have joined forces again this month to create an initiative aimed at keeping players in employment.

It is hoped that by offering players who are out of contract and available for transfer a free advertising service they will be able to stay in employment.

Players have the opportunity to have their availability notified to the footballing world via the SFL’s website,, with interested new clubs able to e-mail in a request for further details.

SFL operations director David Thomson said: “We are pleased to play our part in any scheme that can help keep players in employment. I suppose the best way to describe what we are doing is a match-making service and hopefully clubs and players will find it of use.”
