Inviting, but icy and treacherous

GREEN grass may be visible once again on the Gayfield pitch but frozen patches and surface water are proving difficult to shift.

Luckily, the Lichties don’t have a home game tomorrow (Saturday) as they are travelling to Berwick Rangers, but they will be hoping for an improvement in weather conditions before next Saturday, when they play their first home game of 2011 against East Stirlingshire.

The snow which fell over the town on Friday and Saturday quickly cleared from the pitch on Monday morning but with temperatures still remaining low, ice and surface water have become the problem.

Now, the club are keeping their fingers crossed a rise in temperatures will make the pitch playable for next week.
