TUTTIES Arbroath FC Supporters’ Club held a presentation for a popular departing player last weekend.

Keith ‘Gibby’ Gibson, midfielder for the Maroons, was released at the end of this season, prompting his fans to stage a ‘This is your life’ tribute to him.

Carol Shand, proprietor of Tutties Neuk, described the tribute as hilarious. She said: “It was brilliant. It went really, really well. We’re just going to miss that lad.

“He was over the moon with it and he gave me his shirt from when we won the championship and got it signed to frame and hang up on the wall, which I thought was awful good of him.

“He’s the only one we’ve ever done that for which lets you see how much we thought of him.”

Keith, who has joined Forfar on a one-year deal, posted a message to Arbroath fans on the Arbroath Mad message forum. It said: “After not being offered a new contract, I would just like to say a huge thank you to all of the supporters at Arbroath for a great three and a bit years at the club.

“You’ve shown me great support especially when I signed from Montrose. There have been both highs and lows during my time with the Lichties.

“It has been a pleasure playing in over 100 games for Arbroath but it’s time for me to move on. I want to say a big thank you to all of the board, Karen Fleming, Karen Duncan, Mags, Margaret, Carol Shand, Rob, Mike Cargill, Kris, SP and Paul Sheerin.

“Hopefully I’ll catch up with all of you in Tutties at some point in the future for a pint.”
