Friendly win for Vics
ARBROATH Vics were scheduled to meet Forfar Albion away in a league fixture on Saturday, but the match was postponed due to Guthrie Park being frozen.
With the prospect of another blank Saturday looming, both clubs were given permission to play a hastily arranged friendly at Ogilvy Park by the East Region JFA.
The friendly gave both teams the chance to have a run out, with Vics winning 3-1. They took an early lead through CRAIG STEPHEN, which was doubled 30 minutes in when TERRY GRAY converted a penalty.
Midway through the second half, MATTY JOHNSTON, making his first appearance since dislocating his shoulder back in November, finished off a fine move by adding a third. A defensive mistake late on in the match allowed Albion’s MARK McINTOSH to complete the scoring.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Vics are at home to Coupar Angus in a league fixture, which kicks-off at 1.45pm.
The Perthshire side were involved in the only league match, which went ahead on Saturday, losing 2-1 at home to Lochee Harp, leaving them still seeking their first win of the season, which Vics will be aiming to extend as they attempt to move back into the top four in the table.
Winners this week were: £10 – No. 42, Chris Simpson; £5 – No. 130, Jamie Scott.
ARBROATH supporters are reminded that limited capacity is still available at Brechin City’s 1983 hospitality lounge for tomorrow’s Angus derby.
Speaking on behalf of the club’s management committee, Grant Hood said: “City fans have been largely starved of Glebe Park action latterly with only one home fixture taking place at The Glebe since the end of November. With Arbroath on something of a high, we would anticipate a larger than usual travelling support, so it would be terrific if a healthy terracing atmosphere could be re-produced in a full hospitality lounge.”
Entry to the lounge is by prior booking (over-18s only) and enquiries should be made via e-mail to email@example.com or by calling the commercial line on 07817 910548.
