THE FPS’ Midlands team beat local rivals Arbroath Harp 11-0 in the first round of the North of Tay Cup at Friockheim on Saturday.
The first 20 minutes were fairly even, but once the FPs went ahead they overwhelmed their opponents. They were awarded a total of three penalties which were all successfully converted. The scorers were Low (4), Mowatt (3, one penalty), Buick, Scott (pen), Riddell (pen) and Fenwick. Man of the match was Barber.
The FPs’ Alliance ‘A’ team beat Logie Harp ‘A’ at Fairmuir Park in Dundee, winning 3-1. A Monro side-foot from 12 yards out, a penalty from Macgregor and a header from Gruff sealed the win. Man of the match was Cowie.
The FPs Alliance ‘B’ team was defeated 6-4 by FC Claypotts ‘A’, with Ferrier and Radunski (3) on the mark.
Fixtures for tomorrow (Saturday): Midlands Division One - AHSFP v. Lowson United, Friockheim Park, 2 p.m.; Alliance Division Two - AHSFP ‘A’ v Michelin Athletic ‘A’, Arbroath High School, 2 p.m.; AHSFP ‘B’ have a free week, due to the odd number of teams in the league.
All players are to meet at the Saltire at 12.30 p.m.
