HAT-TRICK hero Steven Doris is ready to repay the Maroon faithful for their support over his three seasons at Gayfield and he hopes to do it by letting them celebrate their second title in two years.
The striker was on form on Wednesday night and was able to collect the match ball by getting his name on the scoresheet against Forfar three times.
But despite giving a stand out performance, Doris was more focused on the team as a whole.
He told HeraldSport: “I’m delighted with the hat trick but to get the three points was more important so we can catch up.
“I’m feeling a lot fitter now and I think that comes with playing every week.
“I’m quite pleased with the finishes of the goals too but like I say three points is more important.
“It is my third season here now and the fans seem to enjoy what the team has been doing and hopefully we can repay them for their support by winning another title.”
The gap at the top of the Second Division between leaders Cowdenbeath and the Lichties has been cut to just two points and the next few weeks will prove vital in the race for the championship.
And the challenge to knock the Fife side from the top is one that Doris is looking forward to.
He added: “It is so important to keep on Cowdenbeath’s coat tails and their result is one of the first things we look for.
“But to be honest taking care of ourselves is much more important.
“Having the midweek games is tough but we are used to it as it was the same last year and it is just a case of making sure you rest up in between.
“We’ve always done well at home and it is good that we have a run of games coming up at Gayfield but what will help us really do well is making sure we pick up the right results away too.”
