PAUL Currie has surprisingly left Arbroath FC and signed for top Superleague junior outfit Bonnyrigg Rose.

The former Berwick and Hamilton player has been a regular for the Gayfield men, so it is a shock he has departed.

At the same time, David Banjo has joined junior side Kinnoull on loan to “get some game time” according to Gayfield boss Paul Sheerin.

The Lichties’ gaffer made the announcement on Twitter earlier this evening.

“Paul Currie has left the club. He has signed for Bonnyrigg Rose on an 18-month contract,” said Sheerin.

Currie has made 26 appearances for the Maroons, while Banjo has turned out 11 times, mostly as a late substitute.
