DUE TO the success of their youth development system, Arbroath Lads’ Club now has teams at all age groups in the seven-a-side friendly leagues within the Dundee and District Youth Football Association.

Because of the large numbers of youngsters at the club, it was always intended to have two presentation days, with the first of these, for the 11-a-side teams, on Sunday, 3 p.m. at Seaton Estate. The seven-a-side teams’ presentation day will be later in the year when their season finishes.

Lads’ Club has managed to secure two signed Arbroath Football Club tops for the raffle on the day which they are sure will generate a lot of interest as they are now signed league champions’ tops.

They also hope to have some past players from the Lads’ Club who went on to play for senior clubs present on the day. Hopefully this will be well received by the younger players at the club and give them encouragement to continue improving and enjoying grassroots football.

It is hoped that Arbroath Football Club’s vice-president, Mike Caird, a former Lads’ Club player, will be present on the day and who knows he may be able to bring along the league trophy to be on show for the day. Again this would be great for the youngsters many of whom stand at Gayfield every other week supporting their local team.
