Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin is hopeful he can add another two faces to his squad in the next week as the season looms ever closer.

The boss confirmed that offers have been made to Lari Yao, who has played as a trialist in the Lichties last three pre-season warm-ups, and left-back Colin Hamilton, who had attracted interest from down south.

And now he is crossing his fingers that both players decide to sign on the dotted line.

He told HeraldSport: “We’ve put an offer to Lari, as I think he offers something that little bit different.

“I think he will be a frustrating type of player for opponents and we will benefit from that.

“We’ve also been talking to Big Hammy [Colin Hamilton] and we are hoping to get a decision and sort something out by Saturday.”

Hamilton had been on trial at Wycombe Wanderers, playing three games for the English League Two club.

And Mr Sheerin explained: “He did reasonably well at Wycombe Wanderers. The trial came about as their left-back had lined up a move to Blackpool. But unfortunately for him and Hammy, the move didn’t happen and Wycombe decided to take him back.

“We’ve already got a squad of 16, which could potentially go up to 18 with still some scope to bring some more in so I’m happy in that respect.”

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Lichties will line up in another friendly against Partick Thistle at Gayfield.

This will be followed by another warm up on Tuesday night when they welcome Inverness.

And with both sides set to field full-strength teams, the manager knows they will provide a good test.

He explained: “It is coming to the business end of pre-season as we’ve played a couple of non-league teams and a youthful Aberdeen team who did well on Tuesday night.

“But both Partick and Inverness seem set to field full strength teams so it is a good opportunity to see where we are.”

After completing the warm-up programme, the competitive season will begin in just over a week.

First up will be Stenhousemuir in the Ramsdens Cup before a home derby against Montrose in the League Cup.

l The club has a special hospitality package available for the League Cup match v Montrose on Saturday, August 3.

Beginning at 1 p.m., a two course meal and drinks, half-time fare and after match refreshments will be served at the price of £50. Dress is casual.
