24-hour extravaganza

ARBROATH Academy will host their third, and biggest, 24-hour football and netball marathon over the Thursday and Friday, March 29/30.

Kicking off at 10 a.m. on the Thursday, over 100 pupils will take to the school games hall for the pile-up of fixtures throughout the morning, afternoon, evening, overnight and into the morning until noon the following day, Friday, March 30.

Teams will compete across both sports and aim to raise over £3,000 for local and school charities. Organiser and PE teacher Christie Morgan said: “We are very excited about this year’s event as it is our biggest yet. Nearly a quarter of our school will be involved and we are delighted to be inspiring people to take part while raising money for good causes. Our school has a tradition of physical activity, sport and fair play, all of which we will show during this crazy 24-hour period.”

Winners will receive medals and trophies across both sports for fair play, top scorers, male and female player of the tournament, as well as first, second and third place teams overall.
