TOP SCOTS darts player Gary Anderson helped a lucky Arbroath Vics’ fan strike bullseye with a £1,000 jackpot win in the junior club’s annual draw.
Anderson made a flying visit to the town at the weekend as he starred in an exhibition at Arbroath Community Centre.
But he stopped off at the Fisherman’s Inn en-route to the exhibition to land local man Donald McKenzie a grand by pulling his ticket, number 103, out of the hat in the draw for the Vics.
Anderson, the current world number four, said: “I’m sick I never had a ticket in the draw myself - £1,000 is a lot of money these days and someone is going to be very happy.
“Well done to the winner. It’s a nice wee bonus and I hope they enjoy the prize.
“Coming up here to Arbroath is what it’s all about for me. Some players forget where they came from but I started out in the pubs and will always go back.
“This is where you learn to play the game and if you are good enough to go further then you’re a very lucky man.”
