INVERBROTHOCK Primary School made history last Wednesday winning the Watters Cup at Gayfield which was being contested for the 100th time.

A crowd of more than 650 packed into the home of Arbroath FC to see Inverbrothock take on Hayshead in the final of the competition.

It was a close and exciting game with Inverbrothock pipping Hayshead, last year’s champions, with a 1-0 win.

The cup was first contested in 1912 and sees the primary schools in Arbroath take on each other in the competition, with the final being played at Gayfield Park.

The organisers of the competition thanked Arbroath Football Club for the use of the ground and stewards while the proceeds raised from the match will go to the Arbroath Schools Sports Association.
