THE FIRST event in the Castle Cross-Country series saw Arbroath and District Athletic Club (ADAC) athletes travelling to a new venue at Knockburn in Banchory. They competed in distances of between one and six miles dependant on ability and age.
ADAC results were: under-11, girls, one mile – Shauna Chisholm, 8.54; Carla Townsend, 10.17: under-13, girls, two miles – Anna Robertson, 14.09; Hannah Robb, 14.25; Allie Townsend, 17.10: under-15, girls, two miles – Ellen Robertson, 13.17; Shona Townsend, 15.14: under-15, boys, three miles – Jack Garrigan, 21.50; Ross Croall, 22.09; Hamish Sutherland, 22.37: senior women, three miles – Sarah Connolly, 24.25; Fiona Lampkin, 29.35:
senior men, three miles – Martin Shepherd, 23.46; six miles – Lewis Morrison, 45.44; Matthew Chisholm, 53.45; Cameron Morrison, 54.07.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day of training before the Christmas break. Training will resume the first week in January and athletes should check the website at http://www.freewebs.com/arbroath-athletics for the start date.
The club’s annual bag packing fund-raiser will take place at Morrisons on December 28. Junior athletes must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This is the main fund-raiser which supports the purchase of equipment and assists the athletes during the course of the year ahead.
