Carnoustie Claymores recently took part at Ren 96 graded gala at Sir Matt Busby sports centre in Belshill, Glasgow.
The Claymores took just 13 swimmers along and they included Katie Wallace (girls’ captain), Phoebe Doherty (girls’ vice-captain), Ethan Doherty (boys’ vice-captain), Ryan Duncan, Stefanie Walters, Holly Milne, Hannah Ingram, Katie Brown, Chloe Brown, Sarah-Louise Meldrum, Abbie Low, Chloe Cameron and Karys Torrie.
From the 13 swimmers competing the Claymores picked up an amazing 22 medals:
Katie Wallace - 3rd 100m Breaststroke, 5th 400m Freestyle, 6th 200IM, 3rd 50m Butterfly, 4th 50m Backstroke, 5th 50m Freestyle, 4th 100m freestyle, 4th 50m Breaststroke, 2nd 200m Freestyle.
Phoebe Doherty - 4th 100m Breaststroke, 4th 100m Backstroke, 4th 50m Backstroke, 5th 50m Freestyle, 4th 100m freestyle, 3rd 50m Breaststroke, 3rd 200m Freestyle.
Ryan Duncan - 5th 50m Butterfly, 2nd 100m Fly, 5th 100m Backstroke.
Stefanie Walters - 6th 400m Freestyle, 4th 50m Butterfly, Katie Brown - 6th 50m Breaststroke.
Alongside the medal haul all the Claymores got fantastic personal best times.
A special mention has to go out to the girls’ captain Katie Wallace and the girls’ vice-captain Phoebe Doherty for achieving a medal in every event they swam in, an excellent performance.
