It’s getting tight in the both divisions of the pool league with it all to play for.

Angling

Carlogie Dam

Various lures are still taking most of the fish being caught at Carlogie Dam. On the odd warmer day buzzers have been working quite well.

Recent catches include: A. Stewart (Dundee) c/r 10, N. Boath (Tayport) c/r 6, S. Watson (Muirdrum) c/r 3, N. Spence (Arbroath) c/r 3, S. McAllan (Arbroath) c/r 5, A. Phillip (Forfar) c/r 9, C. Davidson (Dundee) c/r 2, F. Ross (Dundee) c/r 7, C. Cameron (Dundee) c/r 12, G. Skelton (Arbroath) c/r 2.

A yellow tagged trout was caught earning another lucky angler £50.

Kingennie

The weather may not have been great at Kingennie this week, but the fishing certainly has been.

Lots of hard fighting blues and bows in the returns with a few fish around the 10lb mark.

The boathouse pool fished well with some really hard fighting blues coming, off mostly around 2lb in weight, with the odd bigger fish in there two.

Chris Watson had some cracking fish at the weekend returning 10 fish with two big rainbows both of them just over 8lb and the rest being blues.

Stewart Smith, from Brechin, had another fine fish a rainbow of 8.5lb.

The Burnside pool continues to fish well to squirmy worms, fished under a bung or free lined they have taken a lot of fish. Les Gall had the best return of the week with 22 fish for just a few hours fishing.

The Bankside has produced some nice fish too this week with two of the season ticket holders doing very well Michael King caught his new P.B. trout with a rainbow of 9.5lb and Frank Sherriff having a rainbow of just under 9lb.

The Woodside pool is fishing best to powerbait either ledgered or under a float, spinning with small mepps and small tobys has taken a few fish also.

There are still some places left for the SANA bank qualifier that is to be held on March 8. Call the sports department on 01382 350213 to book your place.

ADPL Charity 4-Man Team

The annual ADPL Charity 4-man team qualifying round will be held on Tuesday, March 17. As a reminder, no league pool will take place on this Tuesday. Teams who qualify will then go on to the 4-man team Finals Day on Saturday, March 28.

Entry remains at £10 per team with a maximum of four players per team. To allow the draw to be carried out in advance the deadline for entries will be Friday, March 7, with entries to be handed in to Shotz by 7 p.m. that night, with entry form for the attention of the match secretary/treasurer.

Last year saw only 17 teams entered with the qualifying teams having an enjoyable day out at 4-Man Finals Day. This is the ADPL’s chance to give something to a chosen charity (to be confirmed) and it is hoped as many players as possible will support the event.
