The team was along similar lines to the one which won away to Carnoustie Panmure in the same competition on the opening day.
However there was one change, Matty Johnston switching to left-back in place of the holidaying Kevin Laing, with the vacan
t position wide right in midfield being taken by Robert Urquhart, who had been signed on a loan deal from Arbroath.
Kirrie snatched the lead in the 20th minute. David McLeish, attempting to clear, sliced the ball across the field where Norrie saw his header back to Reid land short and FARQUHARSON punished both mistakes by rifling a shot into the net from 15 yards.
In the 27th minute, Vics got back on level terms. McWalter picked up a throw-in on a level with the 18-yard line and rolled the ball into the path of JONES who beat Millar low down at his left-hand post with a drive from 20 yards.
With five minutes of the half remaining, Vics edged themselves in front. PEARSON latched on to a clearance from Reid and brought the ball under control before racing clear of the Kirrie' defence and drilling a shot into the back of the net.
A minute later, Vics went 3-1 ahead. Millar was hustled into clearance when he could have elected to let the ball run behind the by-line, and when he hoofed it downfield it landed at the feet of PEARSON, who, despite being 40-plus yards from goal, lofted a sublime shot over everyone and it bounced high into the roof of the net.
Having ended the first-half with two quickfire goals, Vics were quickly out of the traps in the second period and increased their lead further within a couple of minutes. Johnston provided the pass, which allowed PEARSON to evade a defender in the box before shooting beyond Millar to claim his hat-trick.
Kirrie' kept going in an attempt to retrieve the situation and they were rewarded with a second goal in the 62nd minute. Farquharson and Kettles combined to work the ball forward and into the box where ATAGAN got the slightest of touches to steer it beyond Reid from 12 yards.
