Arbroath Academy (2) 0, NCR (2) 3
ARBROATH Academy Badminton Club were in action twice on Sunday evening. First the Gents' second team had a fixture against NCR (2) and then the mixed team had a match against Carnoustie Panbride.
The gents' second team was let down and only had three players. This meant that they were 0-3 down before even starting the match. The Academy would have to win every set to force a draw.

Things started badly when Grant Cargill and Jason Lingard w
ere beaten quickly in their first game. The same pairing played slightly better in their next, but could only manage a draw. In the final game of the evening, G. Cargill and Tak Yau were slightly unlucky to lose the first set 23-25 but lost the second 18-21.

Scores were: G. Cargill and J. Lingard lost to B. Garland and S. Pont, 9-21, 10-21; G. Cargill and J. Lingard drew with P. Anderson and N. Birch, 21-17, 16-21; G. Cargill and T. Yau lost to N. Birch and S. Pont, 23-25, 18-21.

It was a shame that the second team was let down and couldn't field a full team as they had been top of the Second Division prior to this. The second team next play a week on Sunday when they face Forfar (1).

Arbroath Academy 5, Panbride 1

The Academy mixed team had a late fixture switch but were still able to field their full team.

The ladies started well with a good win against T. Lapadula and Smart, 21-13, 21-9. Mulford and Woolfries then ensured that the winning ways continued by beating Angus and Moodie. After the levels the mixed team held a strong 2-0 lead.

In the first mixed match, Paterson and Woolfries were too good for Smart and Moodie and dispatched them without much ceremony.

Cameron and Mulford found the going tough against T. Lapadula and Angus and lost, 13-21, 15-21.

However, victory for the Academy was clinched when Cameron and Mulford won their final match in convincing fashion. In the final game of the evening Paterson and Woolfries were a set up and match point up when Ross Angus had to retire with a leg injury.

Scores were: ladies' doubles: F. Cameron and C. Paterson beat T. Lapadula and K. Smart 21-13, 21-9: gents' doubles: L. Mulford and K. Woolfries beat R. Angus and B.
