STRIKERS FACE RACE AGAINST TIME

ARBROATH face Raith Rovers tomorrow (Saturday) as the first quarter of the season comes to an end.
But the side may be forced to field an untested strike force with Steven Weir and Paul Tosh facing late fitness tests ahead of the match.
However, the squad was boosted late on Friday afternoon when defender Craig Forsyth arrived on-loan from Dundee. The 19-year-old had played against The Lichties last season during his time at Montrose.
"It's the final game of the quarter and I think we should be four or five points better off," said boss, John McGlashan. "It's not hard luck stories, just a touch of naivete on our part and some really good play by some gifted opposition players.
"It has certainly been a learning curve and we're looking forward to facing Raith as it will give us the chance to see how far we have progressed since the start of the season.
"After this weekend's game we have a chance to regroup due to the international break. The time off will allow us to take stock of our position and perhaps implement new strategies and tactics ahead of the second quarter."
Arbroath's home form has been mixed over the past season.
Mr McGlashan was asked if the pressure on Raith Rovers to get a result will perhaps ease the burden on his players who, at times, appear more confident on their travels and away from the often grumbling voices from some on the terraces.
"I think it will help us," he said, "especially as Rovers will be coming to win the game. We know it will be a difficult fixture but that gives us the chance to relax and try and build on the second half performance against Stranraer.
"We're not worried about the game. The players know they will have to be at their best to get a result which is excellent motivation.
"Raith won't come here looking to grab a draw, it will be a very open game of football. At home I always set up the team to try and win and, while at times we come unstuck, nobody can question our endeavour."
He continued: "If my team fails to perform we have no chance. That's a good thing as the players know exactly what is expected of them and I think we will have a very good chance of winning the game."
The arrival of Forsyth was welcomed by the Lichties' supremo. He commented: "He has come through the ranks at Dundee and has played in the same sides as Scott Gates. He impressed me last season and I'm confident that he'll improve the squad."
