ARBROATH basketball star Dale Grieve netted a gold medal in the European Under-16 Championships Division C tournament in Gibraltar on Tuesday night.
The Arbroath High School pupil and Arbroath Musketeers Basketball Club point guard was on hand as the Scotland under-16 side defeated Wales in an impressive 102-39 victory to secure the team's first trophy for eight years.

Dale came off the bench in the final to score six points, taking one rebound and dishing out two assists, helping the Scots to a comprehensive victory against their earlier group opponents.

The cadet side went through the entire tournament unbeaten with victories against Monaco, Malta and Wales in the qualifying section, and a big win against hosts Gibraltar in the semi-final.

Dale, who captained the Musketeers under-16 side to the basketballscotland Silver Division League title earlier in the season, was the only player from outside the 'big three' National League sides of Falkirk Fury, St Mirren and City of Edinburgh Kings to make the national squad.

He averaged over five points a game during the tournament despite receiving just under 15 minutes of court time per game.
