MONARCHS Hockey Club travel south to Peffermill, the Scottish headquarters of hockey, today (Saturday) to take part in a play-off that could see them re-enter the National League setup.
Monarchs completed their season in the Regional League as the top first team, which has qualified them for the chance to regain their place in National 3. Their opponents will be old enemies, Perthshire, who have been competing at the bottom end of the league for the last five or six seasons.

Monarchs completed their preparations with a friendly against Bon Accord MBC at their Arbroath Sports Centre home, with a comprehensive 2-0 win. Fraser McGuffin was on form once again and scored both goals.
Monarchs Hockey Club were last in the National Leagues in season 2004/05 when they were relegated after a playoff, and relish the chance to once again gain a place in the top tier of leagues in Scotland.

Since moving to Arbroath in August of last year, Monarchs have developed strongly and can now boast 30 plus juniors training each week in the youth development section. They are also to extend their playing staff in the forthcoming season with a third team that will compete in the local Midland League.
