DUE TO Hercules Den being declared frozen, Arbroath High School FPs moved their home fixture to Victoria Park where their opponents were Polish outfit FC Polonia.
Having never played each other before and both teams chasing promotion, this promised to be an interesting clash.

FPs had lost the previous week to bottom side Harris, so manager Smith rang the changes in both formation and personnel.

Smith him
self replaced the suspended Riddell at sweeper, while Fenwick and Humphreys completed the back three. In midfield, G. Smith, Dall and Sharp took up the central positions, while Kidd and Maclaren occupied the wings.

The Gall cousins were given the nod up front and the ever reliable Saunderson kept his place in goal. Substitutes Macintosh and Buick completed the squad.

Polonia opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes. Humphreys was caught out of position as his marker found space on the wing. The winger's cross was only half-cleared and a visiting midfielder neatly finished from the edge of the box.

Only five minutes later Polonia doubled their lead. Again some slack defending left a host of attackers free and when Dall slipped while closing down his opponent, the polish midfielder struck into the top corner.

With G. Smith and Dall snapping into tackles, the FPs came more into the game and managed to sneak a goal before the break.

As the two Galls battled for the cause the ball fell kindly to MIKE GALL and he finished superbly in off the far post from the edge of the area.

After the interval, FPs pushed forward and they got the equaliser from another scrappy goal. A hopeful ball into the box took several deflections before it fell to SHARP who prodded home from close range.

By now Saunderson, in comparison to the first half, was a spectator in the home goal. FPs could now smell victory and went in search of the winner. It came 15 minutes from time after persistent work from Matty Gall earned his side a corner. After several flag kicks, Macintosh finally delivered the goods with an inch-perfect cross onto the head of FENWICK, whose header found the top right-hand corner.

Alliance team

The FPs Alliance team were defeated 2-1 by Logie Harp at Victoria Park, with the FPs scoring with an own goal late on in the game. They hope to bounce back with a win tomorrow against a promising Dundee University team.

Fixture for tomorrow (Saturday): Alliance League - AHSFP 'A' v Dundee University 'A', Hercules Den, Arbroath, kick-off 1.30 p.m. All players should meet at the Saltire Centre at 12 noon sharp.
