SIX LOCAL martial arts students have achieved the goal that they had been working towards for several years.
Students of Progressive TaeKwon-Do and Kyuk Too Ki (Korean kick-boxing) were recently put through their paces at the annual black belt grading by instructor and examiner Mark Davies at his Guthrie Port martial arts centre.

Those taking the TaeKwon
-Do grading had to perform all the set 'patterns', demonstrate technical kicking, perform several rounds of sparring, two against one sparring, applied self-defence and power breaking.

The kick boxers had a tough fitness test to perform before demonstrating all their techniques on the punchbags and then performing several rounds of shadow sparring, kick-for-kick sparring and free sparring. Two of the female black belts who were taking the step up to 2nd degree black belt in Korean kick-boxing also had to perform applied self defence.

Mark has various classes for all ages of children and adults at his full-time martial arts centre and can be contacted on 01241 876391.
