The search is on to find the most deserving person in Arbroath to switch on the town’s Christmas Lights this year.
With plans for festivities on December 4 well in hand, the organisers are now looking towards who should be given the honour of flipping the switch.
Organising this year’s switch on are Chic Grant and Rev. Martin Fair, with help from the Arbroath Town Centre Retailers’ Association who will be taking over fully from next year.
Chic said: “In conjunction with the Arbroath Herald we would like the people of Arbroath to nominate a deserving person, someone who has done something for the community, to switch on the Christmas lights.”
A nomination form can be found below.
A theme of community and family has been chosen for the event which will see the lower half of Kirk Square closed off and it is hoped that this year arrangements will go smoothly.
Chic said: “We really really need people to take notice of this closure because there will be no access after the closing time. Last year there were a number of cars which entered the street and this caused a lot of problems.”
The pedestrian precinct will host a variety of stalls and entertainment is being planned for the evening.
Anyone wishing to book a stall is to contact Sandy Beedie at AJ Beedie Jewellers and performers, bands, dance groups etc wishing to take part should contact Chic Grant on 01241 430400 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
