Continued from front

For the last 18 years the quiet and unassuming folk who go about their valuable work in the community have one by one been brought into the foreground and given the wider recognition that they deserve.

It is now up to you, our readers, to help the Rotary Club of Arbroath choose their recipients for the next Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year.

Stuart Scott, vice president of the Rotary Club of Arbroath said: “We all know someone who deserves this award. Someone who is always happy to help, is always the first to volunteer, and never asks for thanks.

“That is why we have this award, and now the Young Citizen award as well. This is Arbroath’s chance to recognise the unsung heroes and heroines who live among us.”

The Citizen of the Year can be of any age, from any walk of life, so long as they are a resident of Arbroath and are working for the good of the community in some capacity.

The Young Citizen of the Year should be between the ages of 12 and 18, and a resident of Arbroath and engaged in some worthwhile community role.

An engraved crystal bowl will be presented to the adult category winner and the young citizen will receive a voucher.

To nominate a Citizen of the Year, and a Young Citizen, please fill out the forms below and return it to The Rotary Club of Arbroath, Community And Vocational Convenor, Frank McDiarmid, 15 Cairniehill Gardens, Arbroath, DD11 4EP, no later than 5pm on Friday, January 22, 2016.
