Local organisers of the Blythswood Care Christmas shoebox appeal have been overwhelmed with donations this year.
A total of 1,430 boxes filled with small gifts, which will be donated to children in poverty, were handed into to the charity’s Broughty Ferry collection centre.
The centre has received boxes from schools, churches and clubs from all over the area including, Broughty Ferry, Carnoustie, Monifieth and Letham.
As in previous years, Mrs Louise Scott and her family had cleared the ground floor of their home in Westfield Road, Broughty Ferry, to provide space for the sorting and checking of the boxes before despatch to Hungary.
Volunteers then worked until last Friday, to prepare the boxes for collection last Saturday.
Every donated item is used and nothing is discarded.
This year boxes will be distributed in countries such as Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
