Westburn Seniors received a potentially life-saving talk from a local firefighter at their latest meeting.
Mrs Elizabeth Crosbie presided at the meeting on Tuesday in the Arbroath Sea Cadet Hall. After the minutes were read and business completed, members were reminded of the trip on Tuesday to the Portcullis for high tea and entertainment in place of the annual autumn bus trip.
Rikki from the Arbroath branch of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service then gave a talk on home fire safety.
In the event of fire the most important thing to do is exit the house and call 999.
Rikki also discussed the common causes of home fires, the dangers of fire blankets and reminded members that home fire safety visits were available.
After much discussion tea was served and Rikki answered questions posed by his audience. Pat Moor proposed the vote of thanks.
