Damage to an Arbroath playpark which had attracted criticism from concerned parents has been repaired by Angus Council.

Earlier this month David Wallace contacted the Herald after visiting the West Links playpark and encountering what he described as “an embarrassment for the town in my opinion but more so a danger to our children.”

In the meantime Angus Council officers have been hard at work bringing the park back up to standard and last week it was announced that repairs had been undertaken.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: “We are pleased to report that damaged play equipment at West Links playpark in Arbroath has been repaired.

“A broken trampoline and damaged play-frame posts have been fixed.

“The paddling pool filtration system has been repaired and the pool cleaned and a giant Ludo piece, which had been broken, taken away for repair.

“The West Links outdoor recreation facilities are extremely popular with locals and visitors alike, particularly during the summer months, and we would hope that everyone enjoys the facilities there.

“Regular checks are made to ensure the play areas are safe and well-maintained. Unfortunately, the equipment is not immune to damage or vandalism.”

Acts of vandalism should be reported to the police on 101, while people can report any damage to Angus Council on the ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778 (calls cost 2p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge).
