Chair Sandra Begg welcomed members and guests to the May meeting of Arbroath Flower Club and introduced Mr John Thexton.
Mr Thexton, from Cumbria, had entitled his demonstration ‘Inspire, Admire’.
His first colourful arrangement was displayed in a large glass vase which contained green beads and red mesh, his flowers included purple leatris and green shamrock chrysanthemums.
His next unusual container was a tall rusty metal stand with an equally rusty pot with a chain attached, however by using a variety of stunning greenery, twigs and dried aspidistra,he completely transformed the design into something beautiful.
The final design on a rectangular tray contained a mass of twigs, variegated ivy, rhubarb flowers and pink and green carnations.
Edna Fairweather provided the beautiful welcome flowers and Mary Ramsay gave the vote of thanks for a much admired demonstration.
Next meeting is the AGM on Thursday (June 13), 7 p.m.
