Both Arbroath lifeboats were launched at the weekend to assist in the search for a local man who had been reported missing.
Alan Kelly (47), Bellevue Gardens, hasn’t been seen since last Wednesday evening and there have been no sightings of him since.
He is described as being about 5’9’’ in height, of stocky build with short dark brown hair which is beginning to go grey.
He is known to regularly wear a woolly hat, black jacket with double pockets on both sides of the front of the jacket and jeans. He uses glasses but does not always wear them.
The all-weather lifeboat RNLB ‘Inchcape’ and inshore D-class lifeboat ‘Robert Fergusson’ were launched on Friday evening just before 6 p.m. but were stood down after approximately two hours of searching close to the shoreline in difficult conditions.
Both lifeboats launched again on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. to resume a daylight search along the town’s shoreline.
Following a further two hours of detailed searching close to shore the volunteer RNLI crew were stood down and returned to station.
Mr Kelly’s family are desperate to determine he is safe and well and request that if anyone has knowledge of where he might be to contact police on 101 or speak to any officer.
Our video shows the night time search. Thanks to the RNLI for the video.
