Two young men are in a critical condition in hospital after a serious road collision last night between Arbroath and Carnoustie.

The incident occurred on an unclassified road between the villages of Easthaven and Westhaven just before 8 p.m.

The collision involved a black Vauxhall Corsa with white wheels and police officers attended the scene along with ambulance personnel, the trauma team and members of Tayside Fire and Rescue.

It is thought the black Corsa may have been travelling with a blue Renault Clio before the incident.

And now officers from Police Scotland’s Tayside Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are particularly keen to trace any witnesses.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the Corsa with white wheels and the blue Renault Clio in the Arbroath area, on the A92 or on the Arbroath Road in Easthaven between 6.30 and 7.55 p.m. last night.

The location of the incident is also immediately adjacent to the Aberdeen to Dundee railway line and police say rail passengers may have also seen the incident or the vehicles.

Anyone with information should contact Tayside Division by dialling 101.
