AN ELDERLY woman who died following a collision with a double-decker bus in Seagate, Dundee, on Thursday was later named as Ruth Young of Duncan Avenue, Arbroath.
Mrs Young had been crossing Seagate when she was in a collision with the Travel Dundee vehicle. The bus driver contacted the emergency services while members of the public tried to help the victim.
She was taken by ambulance to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital where sadly she later died.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said: “The woman was crossing Seagate at around 3.20 p.m. when she collided with the double-decker bus.
“Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the woman was found to be conscious and breathing but with a suspected head injury.”
Police interviewed the bus driver and checked the vehicle following the accident. They also spoke to passers by who had witnessed the tragic incident.
The street was closed to all traffic between Commercial Street and Trades Lane to allow crash investigators to examine the scene.
