The Cottage Cafe is situated just three miles north of Bucksburn in Aberdeen.

The cafe has plenty to offer both inside and out with a seating area on the patio for those rare fine sunny days.

The menu is incredibly packed with something to suit everyone.

To start I had the homemade tomato soup and my friend had the bruschetta with mozzarella and mushrooms.

For the mains I opted for the fish and chips and my friend had the sticky barbecued chicken served with a fresh garden salad.

The fish and chips was absolutely delicious and the sticky chicken was also very tasty. The chicken served with its accompanying fresh salad were the perfect combination as the salad leaves complemented the sweetness of the dish.

The dessert menu is fantastic with a wide variety of ice cream, cakes and a cheese selection.

I opted for cake and ice cream because I was still hungry while my more civilised friend had a small cheese board which was served with pickle and a side of beetroot as well as thick, chunky homemade brown bread.

The cafe prides itself on making a wide variety of bread, from soda bread to morning rolls.

Most of its menu can also be adapted so it can be taken away if you are on the move.

Inside the cafe is a small shop which sells its homemade produce such as the bread, cakes and tray-bakes.

To take away for the journey home I had some of the flapjack which was thoroughly enjoyed long before I reached Luthermuir!

The atmosphere inside the cafe is pleasant and airy with a light but cosy decor throughout.

Some of the other items on the menu that almost took my fancy were the garlic mussels, a prawn cocktail starter, oak smoked salmon pate with crusty bread and the mushroom soup which smelled amazing!

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch on a Saturday afternoon and the prices on the menu are also very reasonable.

Next time I am that way I would like to try their Cullen Skink as well as a few more of the cakes and perhaps take some bread home.
