AN ARBROATH nursing student is one of the first to be selected for a life changing work placement in Australia.
Tasha Bates, who is in her third year of paediatric nursing at the University of Dundee has been chosen for a five week placement at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth, Western Australia.
The hospital is known worldwide for its care and medical research aimed at children.
Tasha had to undergo a gruelling selection process at university to be chosen for the placement but now has to raise the cash needed to fund the trip.
Already she has organised a live lounge evening at Coast nightclub and will also be carrying out a sponsored bungee jump.
And now she hopes the community will get behind her to help her realise her dream of working in a world renowned children’s hospital.
She said: “This is the first time something even remotely like this has been offered to student child nurses in Tayside and is an absolute privilege.
“I am required to raise around £3,000 for the trip by December this year which really isn’t much time at all.
“Having just spent time on the neonatal intensive care unit in Ninewells, I would love to develop my knowledge even further.”
